Alfonzo Dennard was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) in Nebraska on Thursday, July 11, 2013. It’s the second arrest of a Patriots’ player in just 15 days. Police report that Dennard was pulled over and failed a field sobriety test and later refused a chemical test and a driving infraction. Police spokesman said a final decision on the DUI charges would be made by the Lincoln City Attorney’s Office before August 12th of this year.
Dennard is already on probation for another criminal case. It is unclear at this time if he’s charged or convicted of this DUI if his probation will be revoked.
NFL Network reported that Dennard claims he blew into the breathalyzer twice and that the officer said he registered a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) below the level for a DUI. Dennard said the officer told him he didn’t blow hard enough into the breathalyzer, which is why he is being charged with noncompliance in addition to DUI. Dennard claims that he was never asked to take a chemical test for suspicion of DUI and that he passed the field sobriety test given at the scene. Dennard was stopped after midnight for straddling a lane line.
